How Are Notarized Translation Costs Calculated?
There are two separate charges in a notarized translation: the sworn translation fee paid to the translation provider and the notary certification fee paid to the notary who certifies it.
Translation fees depend on the document’s character or word count and the availability of the source and target languages. Notary fees are calculated under the Ministry of Justice tariff based on page count and line density.
Standard Document Pricing in 2026
For short, standardized documents such as diplomas, passports, criminal record certificates, and civil registry records, notary certification is generally charged using a standard per-page tariff.
For commercial contracts or lengthy case files, notaries determine the fee by measuring half pages (approximately 13–14 lines) and full pages.
Can You Reduce the Cost?
Yes. For multi-page documents such as transcripts, a translator may be able to reduce the page count by removing unnecessary spacing, which can substantially lower the notary expense.
